- Tri-State Water Rights Litigation (“Water Wars”)
I represent the Lake Lanier Association in this dispute among Georgia, Florida, and Alabama regarding water rights in the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint (ACF) River basin. This is complex, multi-district federal litigation involving dozens of lawyers from three states, numerous municipalities, and power company interests. It is some of the most important litigation in the United States in the 21st century. I represent the interests of the people whose lives and livelihoods depend directly on Lake Sidney Lanier.
- Lake Lanier Dock Permits
In addition to the Water Wars, I have also represented numerous groups and individuals regarding Lake Lanier dock permit issues with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers.
- Lake Sidney Lanier Home Preservation Act of 2000
I shepherded this legislation through implementation by the Secretary of the U.S. Army and the Corps of Engineers, making it possible for thousands of Georgians to resolve Lake Lanier Corps line boundary disputes in a pragmatic, cost-effective way.
- Wetlands, Clean Water Act
I have represented individuals and neighborhood associations involving development and construction projects that affected wetlands and running streams and impacted private property. I have also worked with environmental groups regarding legislation that affected water rights and regulation in Georgia.
